Importance of Poker Position And Some Useful Tips

Your poker position can affect your poker strategy. And for this reason, it is  an important factor to consider when you are playing poker.
Poker Positions

In a standard Texas Hold em poker game (one with blinds), a player sitting left to the dealer is the small blind. And the player sitting left to the small blind is the big blind. Thus, the big blind player is just two seats away from the dealer.

On the other hand, if you are sitting left to the big blind or three seats away from the dealer, then you are under the gun. The player sitting right to the dealer is in isolate position. Remaining players on the poker table have no special labels, however.

More commonly speaking, however, each player on a poker table are classified by how early or late in the round he/she is going to act (fold, call or raise). The small blind, the big blind and the under-the-gun player are classified as the early position players.  On the other hand, late position players include the dealer, the cut-off position player and (sometimes) the player two places to the dealers right. Remaining players are middle position players; certainly, if there are only six players at the table, then there are only early or late positions in the table.

Poker Position Tips (Some Important Suggestions)

Late position is the best position at a poker table. A late position makes certain that you can test how good the cards of the early position players have ad thus they can make their move accordingly.

Moreover, by the time that the betting round comes to the, they will possibly have less opponents than the real number of players seated at the poker table. A few of the early and mid-position players would have already given up and folded by the time it is  their turn to bet – and in poker, they enjoy better winning opportunities than their opponents.

However, the small blind and the big blind are out of position and can not react to other players action in the first betting round; but they have a special benefit. As they have already contributed in the pot, awaiting the flop costs less for them than their opponents at the table – unless, of course, any player in the middle or late position raises the pre-flop.

The early position players must play their hands carefully. Normally, they should bet aggressively when they hold strong hands; or else, they should endeavor to play things slowly.
